Air Force JROTC

Ashbrook High School is one of five schools in Gaston County that offers a JROTC program. The Air Force Junior ROTC at Ashbrook focuses on Aerospace Science and Staff Management and Procedures.

About the Program
Aerospace Science is a citizenship program for students in grades 9-12. It encourages leadership, responsibility, and community service. Students wear a uniform once a week and are expected to meet dress and appearance standards. The program includes leadership training, physical fitness, and classroom learning. Cadets also take part in field trips, drill teams, honor guard, and model rocketry. There is no military obligation.

Advanced Course: Staff Management and Procedures
To take the Staff Management and Procedures course, students must complete Aerospace Science I and II with an average of 80 or higher. This advanced course is available to a limited number of cadets who meet the requirements. It is designed for students who are competitive for top colleges, military academies, or ROTC scholarships.
